When I signed my first record deal in 1996, many artists had little understanding of (or interest in) the contracts that would eventually bind their musical future. I was one of those artists. Fortunately, I’ve been extremely lucky to make my music with little interference. Behind the scenes, however, business deals were made on my music’s behalf and as a result of contracts I signed as a teenager, I’ve had to live with those deals, some of which were made by people that aren’t even in the music business anymore. I have worked with some great people, most of whom I’m still friends with today. Unfortunately, we’ve all been forced to operate within an antiquated system that doesn’t work anymore. Because of this, I’ve decided to create my own system...

I am committed to creating a new standard in artistic independence. To me, that means having 100% control over my art. Plain and simple. 

In order to achieve this, I created The Noise Company. The Noise Company is the label under which I now freely release music I like. It allows me to communicate directly with my fans, record stores and radio stations I support, and for the first time I am able to work directly with the people who physically bring the music to the public. These people include distributors, manufacturers, independent promoters, designers and a slew of overall cool and creative people who still believe in recorded sound.

People ask me if we are signing bands. The short answer is, I’d like to, but not right now. The main focus at this time is the release of my forthcoming album Go Fly A Kite, coming out on February 7th, 2012. With that said, it’s my full intent to one day find and develop unknown artists as well has help established artists by giving them the honesty, truth , transparency and passion they deserve from the team of people in charge of bringing their music to the public.
